Paying Homage: President and wife visits historic Wat Xieng Thong

President U Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla paid homage to the historic Wat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang on Sunday. During the visit, the President and his wife paid homage to the Buddha Image, offering light, flower and golden lotus robe.

They also donated a statue of Mara Vijaya Buddha and book on its construction processes. Wat Xieng Thong Temple was built in the 16th century during the reign of King Setthathirath and was completed in 1560. It is one of the most beautiful and important temples in Laos, known for its traditional Lao architecture and artistic design.

The temple is especially famous for its mosaic glass artwork, the “Tree of Life” painting, and its detailed roof structures. People believe that visiting the temple brings good health, peace of mind, and success. Because of its golden decorations and colorful mosaic designs, it is considered one of the most beautiful temples in Asia and is visited by many international tourists.
