Strom Responding Drill: Measures to mitigate natural disaster

Strom Responding Drill was held in Dawei of Tanintharyi Region on Sunday. Aiming to respond quickly when natural disaster occurred in the region, the drill was organized by Regional Natural Disaster Management Committee.

During the event, combined teams drilled the activities to be conducted before, during and post disaster such as cyclone warning announcement, rescues people from dangerous areas to safe places, and providing healthcare services.

Following the drill, Regional Chief Minister U Zaw Naing Oo said Tanintharyi Region can face cyclone through Bay of Bengal and fishing boats and travellers along the coastal area can also face natural disaster. Houses can collapse due to the flooding, especially along the coastal areas and islands.

He added that the drill aims for the departments and organizations to be readied to mitigate the naturalĀ  disaster and expressed his appreciation to the participants. A total of 350 people including Myanmar fire brigade, Tatmadawmen, departmenal personnel and locals participated in the drill.
