Early Prevention : Public basis immunization against HPV continues

Globally, there are 13.3 cervical cancer cases out of 100,000 women and fatality rate is found to be 6.9. Amidst the cancers that occur among Myanmar women, cervical one is accounted for 23.5, mostly found between the ages 15 to 44.

Cervical cancer often doesn't cause signs or symptoms until cancer level. Therefore, school basis and community basis immunization program has being implemented for girls aged 9 to 12 years while early prevention is necessarily important. By doing so, the infection of HPV virus which lead to cervical cancer can be reduced up to 83% among young girls.

The present administering doses could prevent 4 types of HPV virus and the incidences are getting less significantly worldwide. Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer, as long as it is detected early and managed effectively.  

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer affecting women worldwide, after breast, colorectal, and lung cancers but especially it’s the second commonest cancer in the developing countries. In the last months of August and September in Myanmar, school basis immunization had been conducted and now in October, public basis immunization is being implemented continuously.
