School Health Week Activities : Chin State CM delivered the opening address

The commemoration ceremony for the State-Level School Health Week Activities for the 2026–2027 Academic Year was held on August 14 at the Meeting Hall of the Chin State Government Office in Hakha.

Chin State Chief Minister Dr. Wong Hsun Htan  attended the ceremony and delivered the opening remarks.

First, Chin State Chief Minister Dr. Wong Hsun Htan said that the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health are jointly implementing the Health-Promoting School Programme. In order to promote healthy living and eating habits and healthy lifestyles, students are taught life skills subjects.

They are also educated to develop and maintain personal hygiene practices, including keeping the environment free from waste, using clean and sanitary fly-proof toilets, accessing clean water, maintaining environmental cleanliness, washing hands properly and brushing their teeth.

Other activities include administering deworming medicine and providing iron tablets twice a week. He said that such activities are being carried out as part of the School Health Week activities to promote the health of students.

Next, a video clip on school health activities was shown, after which the Chief Minister presented awards and certificates of honour to schools that had achieved outstanding results in school health activities.

Afterwards, primary-level students from No. (1) Basic Education High School gave a demonstration entitled “Poem on Proper Handwashing.” A video clip on the School Health Week activities in Tedim  Township was then shown, followed by a demonstration entitled “Personal Hygiene Practices” by primary-level students from No. (2) Basic Education High School.

The State Chief Minister subsequently toured and observed the school health activities exhibition booths.
