






The Embassy of India in Myanmar has donated books and periodicals to the Library of Mandalay Traditional Medicine University. This donation covers a wide array of subjects, including Indian herbal medicinal plants, culture, literature, and history.
The formal handing-over ceremony took place at the University on Sunday. During the ceremony, Indian Ambassador Mr. Vinay Kumar explained the purpose of the donation and highlighted the potential for collaboration in the health sector, particularly in traditional medicine. Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win expressed gratitude for the donation, acknowledging its role in supporting the development of Myanmar's traditional medicine sector.
The Union Minister accepted the donated materials and reciprocated by presenting a certificate of honor to the Ambassador. Subsequently, the Union Minister and the Ambassador took a tour of Mandalay Traditional Medicine University, engaging in discussions about potential cooperative ventures for the development of the e-Library in collaboration with India.
They also visited the booths showcasing the university's offerings, where they exchanged ideas on further enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health sector. In the afternoon, Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win paid a visit to the 550-bed Children Hospital-Mandalay.
There, he inspected patient wards, the operating theater, and the laboratory. During a meeting with the hospital staff, the Union Minister urged everyone to strive towards making the hospital a reliable healthcare institution by providing superior services to the people. Following this, they proceeded to Mandalay People's Hospital, where they observed the administration of radiation therapy using the new Elekta Linear Accelerator.
The installation of this new equipment was completed in early October, and treatment for patients commenced on the 6th of the month, including weekends and holidays, aimed at reducing patient waiting times.
