Tree Planting Ceremony: An event to commemorate Myanmar Women’s Day

Aiming to develop forest plantations to restore deforestation, a tree planting ceremony in commemoration of Myanmar Women’s Day, was held at No. 12 Basic Education High School in Mawlamyine on Saturday with the attendance of Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein, State Ministers, departmental officials, members of Mon State Women’s Committee and Maternal and Child Welfare Association.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister encouraged the officials to participate in preserving natural environment and ecosystem by planting various trees systematically according to the soil and climatic conditions to prevent natural disasters.

Then, the Chief Minister and State Ministers presented hardwood saplings to the officials and inspected the tree planting process. A total of 700 saplings including teak, khayay, mahogany, gold mohur were planted during the ceremony.
