







Tourism promotion activities are being carried out in the Mann Shwesettaw Wildlife Sanctuary area. In the wildlife sanctuary, preserved rare species such as star turtles, golden deers and also elephant camps are opened.
Mann Shwesettaw Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Minbu district of Magway region and it was established in 1985.
Aung San, Assistant Director, Dept. of Environmental Conservation said "Star turtles are rare and endangered species. So, we keep them in the camp and release them in the wildlife sanctuary. Currently, we have 7,020 star turtles and we train them for 1 year so that they can graze again in the wildlife sanctuary. As people, we need to carefully preserve the Myanmar’s rare species of star turtles."
The Mann Shwesettaw Wildlife Sanctuary also preserves the golden deers to maintain the ecosystem of them, to inform tourists about these rare species, to help visitors relax and to support the Myanmar’s tourism industry, according to officials.
Official, Shwesettaw Mann Creek Elephant Camp said "The number of elephants is gradually decreasing, so we must preserve them. I think that when people visit the Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda, they can also visit our elephant camp and gain knowledge about elephants."
For the upcoming tourism season, the Mann Shwesettaw pagoda festival will be held in line with the COVID-19 prevention guidelines. For visitors, there are rooms at the Shwesettaw Mann Creek Elephant Camp.
