





Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited Sagaing on Sunday to assess the damages caused by the powerful earthquake and rehabilitation measures. The devastating earthquake has caused damages to various educational institutions in Sagaing Region.
During the tour, the Prime Minister and party visited the Myat Private School and No.1 Basic Education High School and oversaw the damages. The Prime Minister instructed for systematic scrutinizing works on the damages, phase by phase renovation process and dismantling of the buildings at risk while carrying out renovation to those available.
On arrival at Sagaing People’s Hospital, the Prime Minister comforted the patients who sustained injuries during the quake. At the Athin Khaya Hall, the Prime Minister heard reports on loss of lives and properties, rescue and relief measures and clearing of debris.
The Prime Minister pledged to provide cash assistance for the damages, and instructed to carry out the restoration works systematically, ensuring the long term durability. They then proceeded to Moe Zar Water Supply Facility to assess the damages that has derailed the main axis route.
On arrival at the Saku Hmaw Relief Camp, the Prime Minister oversaw the relief measures and health care services. He also viewed the Sagaing Bridge (Innwa) which was collapsed during the earthquake. They then arrived at 700th Anniversary Sports Ground where the Malaysian Rescue Team is providing relief measures. The team leader explained the ongoing rescue operations ot the Prime Minister who expressed thanks to each team member.
The Prime Minister and party later inspected the clearing of debris at the Lay Kyun Earthen Brick Monastery, Thakya Dhita Nunnery, Soon Oo Ponnya Shin Pagoda and Yadana Theingi Nunnery. During the inspection, the Prime Minister instructed for systematic reconstruction works of the religious edifices without damaging the original style.
On arrival at the Sitagu Vipassana Monastery, the Prime Minister paid homage to the State Ovada Cariya Sayadaw, Chairman of Shwe Kyin Sect and the Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academy, and donated 50 million kyat and offertories for renovation works. They then shared the merits gained to the members of the Sangha, nuns and people who lost their lives during the earthquake.
The Prime Minister then oversaw the damages of Sitagu Sangha Sandhipata Monastery, and instructed to expedite the reconstruction works. They then assessed the damage of the mortor way in Thawtapan Ward and renovation works at Maha Ceti in Rai Tan Ward as well as the durability of Ayeyawady Bridge (Yadanapon).
