









The opening ceremony of the 40th Technical Committee Meeting of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), hosted by the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, was held at the Grand Ballroom of The Eravati Sule Grand Hotel in Yangon on August 25.
The event was attended by Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, Director General of the CIRDAP Secretariat Mr. Chandra Shekara Putte Gowda, and technical committee members from 14 CIRDAP member countries including Bangladesh, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Also in attendance were officials from the CIRDAP Secretariat, invited guests, and media representatives. At the ceremony, Union Minister U Hla Moe delivered an opening speech. Following his remarks, CIRDAP Director General Mr. Chandra Shekara Putte Gowda gave a speech on the purpose of the 40th CIRDAP Technical Committee Meeting.
A video on Myanmar's rural development implementation was then shown. The opening ceremony concluded after a group photo. Following the opening ceremony, the technical committee members from the 14 member countries, along with the Director General and officials from the CIRDAP Secretariat, continued with the 40th CIRDAP Technical Committee Meeting.
The meeting and a CIRDAP Knowledge Sharing Workshop will be held from August 25 to 26. On August 27, the delegates will visit Yemon Village in Hlegu Township and the Union National Races Village for a study tour. After the opening ceremony, the Union Minister and the Yangon Region Minister for Natural Resources and officials attended a ceremony at Good Brother Center in Yemon Village, Hlegu Township.
The event was for the distribution of fertilizers on a crop-yield-based system to monsoon paddy farmers. Union Minister U Hla Moe and Yangon Region Minister U Zaw Win delivered opening speeches, and the regional minister and other officials provided fertilizer to the monsoon paddy farmers from villages within Hlegu Township.
