The State Administration Council held its meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
He highlighted the successful commemoration of the 8th anniversary of the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), emphasizing the Tatmadaw's commitment to the NCA. He recounted that the peace invitation to the Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) for signing the NCA was initiated in 2011.
The very first meeting with the EAOs took place in Laiza of Kachin State, followed by Lawkhila in Kayin State. After several meetings, the NCA was signed through negotiations among the peace facilitators, Tatmadaw representatives, and civil sector representatives.
He continued by mentioning that Myanmar's political history is complex, with provocations dating back to before Independence. There has been constant interference in Myanmar's affairs by a Western group led by the United States, with the intention of implementing a China Containment Policy.
He stated that India, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia are friendly countries, but some countries imposed sanctions on trade, finance, and foreign affairs due to influence from the United States.
Consequently, with the assistance of friendly and neighboring countries, efforts are being made to diversify the use of various currencies instead of relying on a single currency. He urged all council members to consider long-term perspectives while addressing political matters.
The international community should provide more cooperation to improve the situation in Myanmar. Supporting terrorist groups, whether directly or indirectly, could hinder efforts to establish a multi-party democracy system and carry out development work.
Then, the council members and the Joint Secretary reported on the development undertakings and efforts for peace, stability and rule of law.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister stressed the need to implement systematic measures in forming political parties in accordance with the rules and regulations. He mentioned plans for meetings with political parties before the election and reiterated the government's commitment to achieving national and political objectives.
