









Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win visited the Kha Wei Chan School for the Blind in Mayangone Township on Saturday.
Officials explained the school’s activities, and the Union Minister observed students preparing for exams, learning handicrafts, using the Braille library, and training in baking. Students also performed songs, and the Union Minister praised teachers and staff for supporting the lives and future of visually impaired children.
He said the ministry is working to ensure access to education, vocational training, and employment for persons with disabilities. Later, the Union Minister visited the Mary Chapman School for the Deaf in Dagon Township. Officials explained that children aged five and above are taught academic subjects, sign language, and vocational skills.
The Union Minister then observed sign-language classes, vocational training, audio classes, therapy rooms, classrooms, and dormitories. He thanked the school for supporting deaf education. Currently, the Kha Wei Chan School for the Blind cares for and educates 115 students, while the Mary Chapman School for the Deaf supports 250 students with academic and vocational education.
