






In recognition of literati and authors in Myanmar, the Sarso Beikman building is scheduled to build at Uyin ward in Mingala Taung Nyunt Township of Yangon Region.
A stake driving ceremony for the building was held on Wednesday with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. At the auspicious time, the Prime Minister drove the Yadana stake at the center of the construction site and sprinkled it with scented water.
Then, the Council Joint Secretary and Union Level Officials, the Union Ministers, Yangon Region Chief Minister, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar and the Lifetime Achievement for National Literary Award winners drove the strake at their designated places and sprinkled with scented water.
After the ceremony, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn made detailed clarification on the working processes for construction of Sarso Beikman under the guidance of the Prime Minister, plans for galleries displayment and renovation of the old building into Sarpay Beikman Public Library.
Upon the clarification, the Prime Minister instructed the needs for construction of the building systematically and collection of documents, paintings, photos and sculptures of the literati of successive eras. The Prime Minister also gave necessary instructions on inclusion of reading rooms systematically in implementing Sarpay Beikman Public Library.
Upon completion, the new 3-story Sarso Beikman Building will display various galleries including historical photos of literary development activities, reading room and library, books and articles of literary award winners and sculptures of Lifetime Achievement for National Literary Award winners.
The old Sarpay Beikman Library is located on the first floor of the 3-story building of Sapay Beikman. According to the rapid increasing population and urban development, the old building will be renovated into Sarpay Beikman Public Library under the guidance of the Chairman of SAC with the aims for nurturing reading habits and knowledge consumption of the public, and assisting Myanmar literature development.
