Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, leader of the Information Team of the State Administration Council, clarified the call for addressing political issues through political means. He emphasized that the Tatmadaw has to take responsibility of the state in light of attempts to seize power through illegitimate means, which disregard the efforts to resolve political issues arise from the alleged electoral fraud in the 2020 General Election.
Despite the Tatmadaw's efforts to address the political crisis through peaceful means, armed violence has been chosen instead. This has led to the establishment of the NUG and PDF, which have committed acts of terrorism and threatened public safety. As of September 27, over 6,700 innocent lives have been lost, including 75 education staff, 17 health staff, and 84 members of the Sangha.
Additionally, there have been over 9,000 incidents of bomb blasts and significant damage to more than 1,300 infrastructures. These losses have profoundly affected the state and its people, impacting socio-economic conditions.
In response to the current situation, the changing international landscape, and the desire for peace among the populace, the Tatmadaw has announced an invitation for dialogue. Efforts are underway to hold elections, as every citizen has the right to participate in a democratic process and choose their own government through voting.
Achieving this requires peace and stability. Moreover, many regions have been severely affected by floods, marking the worst disaster in 50 years. Vigorous rehabilitation efforts are needed, and peace is essential for these initiatives. Therefore, the Ethnic Armed Organizations, insurgent groups, and PDF terrorists are urged to abandon violence and engage in the political process for the benefit of the people.
