Tree Planting and Fish Releasing: MOSA held a tree planting and fish releasing

The 2026 Ministry of Sports Affairs' Tree Planting and Fish Fingerling Releasing Ceremony, conducted as a public movement during the monsoon season, was held Tuesday morning at the Athletics Long-Distance Running Track and the Wunna Theikdi Lake within the premises of the Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw.

Union Minister for Sports Affairs U Ye Myint Tun attended and led the planting activities. First, the Union Minister and the Deputy Minister led the planting of Flamboyant trees. The Union Minister, Deputy Minister, Permanent Secretary, and Director-General then toured and encouraged the staff as they collectively planted a total of 555 shade trees in designated areas.

Following this, the Union Minister delivered an address, urging responsible officials and staff members to not only ensure the survival of the trees during planting but also to collectively care for and maintain them so they grow successfully and thrive. As a monsoon season public movement, the Ministry of Sports Affairs organized this tree planting and fish fingerling releasing ceremony simultaneously across various locations, including the Ministry's Headquarters, sports grounds and gymnasiums within the Institutes of Sports and Physical Education, and vacant lands belonging to the Region and State Sports and Physical Education Departments.

At the same time in their respective regions and states, Region and State Chief Ministers, Speakers and Deputy Speakers of Hluttaws, and government ministers joined forces with officers and staff from the Sports and Physical Education Department. A total strength of 4,221 participants collectively took part in the movement, planting a total of 4,712 trees across 32 varieties, including valuable teak and ironwood trees, perennial trees, windbreak shade trees, and fruit trees, it’s reported.
