On March 28th, the powerful earthquake caused severe damage along the Yangon-Mandalay railway line, including 60 places of track damage and 11 damaged railway bridges. Some locations experienced displacement of the rail tracks. In response, Myanma Railways has been working to repair the damage using human resources, machinery, and effective transportation support.

On April 3rd, the repairs along the affected rail lines were completed, and testing was conducted with freight trains to ensure the stability of the tracks.

On April 4th, passenger trains were also tested for speed. After these successful tests, it was confirmed that the trains were safe to operate. As a result, passenger services between Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay resumed on the morning of April 5th. Additionally, daily regular services for the Yangon-Pyay and Yangon-Mawlamyine routes have been restored.

In the aviation sector, domestic flights from Mandalay International Airport were allowed to resume starting April 4th. On April 5th, a total of 13 flights were successfully operated by four domestic airlines, carrying 399 incoming passengers and 573 outgoing passengers, totaling 972 passengers transported.
