A devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck multiple regions of Myanmar, including Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, on March 28, resulting in widespread destruction, loss of life and severe property damage.

In ThabyayGone ward, Zabuthiri Township, a three-story building collapsed, trapping a 24-year-old man beneath the rubble for 40 hours. A joint rescue operation by Myanmar and Singaporean teams successfully extracted the survivor on the morning of March 30 after 24 hours of intensive efforts. Following a comprehensive 360-degree assessment of the site, rescue teams entered the structure by dismantling the left-side fence to safely access the victim.

The operation was conducted with extreme caution, prioritizing the safety of rescue personnel amid continuous aftershocks. Despite the constant risk, Myanmar and Singaporean teams worked tirelessly to rescue the victim.

Since the earthquake struck, continuous rescue operations have been carried out under challenging conditions, leading to the successful extraction of more than 140 victims. The collaborative effort of joint rescue team has been regarded as a significant milestone in international disaster response.
