Ongoing rescue and relief operations are being carried out in the earthquake-affected areas in coordination with the timely arrival of international humanitarian aid.

On Saturday, an Indian Navy landing ship arrived at Thilawa Port, carrying a large 442 ton consignment of food aid including rice, cooking oil, noodles and biscuits. These relief items were handed over by Ambassador Abhay Thakur to Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Soe Thein and officials. These supplies are intended to meet the immediate food needs of the affected population in Myanmar.

This is the second Naval Ship from India, sending relief supplies. India has also sent the rescue team, medical personnel and relief materials via air route with six Aircrafts already landed in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay, following the severe disaster.
