At the UN High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS, India reaffirmed its commitment to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, backing the draft Political Declaration and its call for accelerated global action.

Delivering India’s national statement, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish highlighted the country’s progress in reducing new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths through sustained investments and strengthened healthcare interventions.

Noting that the global HIV response is at a critical juncture, India warned that persistent inequalities, funding gaps and emerging challenges could jeopardize hard-won gains.
