The Central Supervisory Committee on Private Security Service held a meeting on Thursday at the Myanmar Police Force Headquarters.

Chairman of the Central Committee Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung attended the meeting and made a speech, highlighting the important role of private security companies in supporting national security, upholding the rule of law, and maintaining community peace.

He emphasized the need for strict oversight of private security firms to ensure their services align with international standards and comply with legal frameworks. The Private Security Services Law was enacted on 18 February 2025 as Law No. 4/2025 by the State Administration Council.

To implement the provisions of the law, the Central Supervisory Committee was established on 24 March, following the formation of supervisory committees at the Union Territory, region, and state levels under Sections 6(a) and 6(b). The law comprises 13 chapters and 55 sections, outlining procedures for license and permit applications, responsibilities and entitlements of license holders, rights and duties of security staff, as well as restrictions and penalties.

It is stated that companies intending to operate private security services must apply for a license through their respective regional or state-level supervisory committees. Businesses planning to deploy more than 10 security personnel at their head office or branches must also seek a special permit.

Regional and state committees are responsible for reviewing applications for compliance and submitting eligible cases with recommendations to the Central Supervisory Committee. Final decisions, including the issuance of licenses or permits, will be made at the central level.
