Cultural Concert: Celebration of Chinese New Year in Yangon

A Cultural Concert, commemorating the Chinese New Year, took place at the National Theatre in Yangon on Thursday.

Prime Minister U Nyo Saw and wife attended the event, together with the Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, regional government members and officials. On his arrival at the event, the Prime Minister and party viewed the display of commemorative booths.

The ceremony commenced with the screening of a video clip on the culture of Chinese Spring Festival.

In his speech, the Prime Minister praised the Pauk Phaw friendship that has been strengthening since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and China. He stressed to further enhancing of existing relations, abiding by the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence and mutual understanding. He also expressed thanks for Chinese assistance during the time of natural disaster and recovery efforts as well as for China's constructive support for Myanmar in the regional and international arena.

Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia extended greetings for the people of the two countries, followed by the entertainment program, featuring Chinese cultural performance. Then, the Prime Minister and guests enjoyed the dinner reception, hosted by the Ambassador.
