Passing Out Parade: Senior General addresses the 26th Intake of DSMA

Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray SithuThadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing addressed at the passing out parade of the 26th Intake of Defence Services Medical Academy in Yangon on 10th December.

The Senior General took the salutes of the cadet columns and inspected the graduation cadet column. Then, the cadet columns marched past the Senior General. Next, the Senior General presented awards to the outstanding cadets in excellent performance, training and literature respectively.

Then, the Senior General delivered a speech, stressing that a strong and modern military requires physically and mentally fit soldiers, highlighting the motto “Make Fit to Fight.” He said military medical officers must provide effective healthcare and protection for soldiers, continuously improve their medical knowledge, and keep pace with global scientific and technological advances.

He urged new graduates to uphold compassion, ethics and preventive healthcare when treating troops and civilians, adding that “prevention is more effective than cure.” The Senior General said the medical academy meets international standards, being recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), and continues to expand postgraduate programs, research and cooperation with foreign institutions.

He highlighted the role of military medical teams in supporting nationwide public health efforts, including mobile medical missions to remote mountain regions, border areas, delta communities and island villages, using river and sea hospital vessels. He also addressed national politics, saying Myanmar is working toward a democratic and federal system that fits the country.

He reiterated that a multi-party democratic general election will begin on December 28, using a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system and Myanmar’s electronic voting machines. He urged the new doctors to continue training, learn modern medical science, and serve the nation as “Good Soldiers and Efficient Doctors,” upholding the proud traditions of the military medical corps.

Then, the Senior Geeral left the parade ground after taking salutes from the cadet columns. The Senior General also met with the outstanding cadets and their parents and expressed words of appreciation and encouragement.
