Pagoda Digital Directories: Phase by phase process of the project underways

Presentation of Pagoda Digital Directories to be installed at the Pagodas in Yangon Region was held at Mingalar hall of Yangon Region Government office on Sunday.

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin delivered an opening speech, saying that according to the guidance of the Head of State, Pagoda Digital Directories for famous pagodas in Myanmar is being implemented. Nine pagodas including Shwedagon in Yangon and Mahamuni Buddha Image in Mandalay were installed with the Directories as first phase.

Shwemawdaw Pagoda in Bago was then added to the list and people can observe it online and offline. Installation of Pagoda Digital Directory aims for the local and foreign visitors to observe cultural heritage, pagodas and Cetis in Myanmar through the modern digital systems.

Arrangements are being made to launch the Pagoda Digital Directory Web Portal with the cooperation of Archaeology and National Museum Department and University of Computer Studies.  Measures will be undertaken for prominent pagodas in 14 State/Region as second phase, and for historic pagodas throughout the nation as third phase. 

Additionally, efforts are being made to implement the Virtual Tour System that people can pay homage and explore the religious buildings and pagodas  in Myanmar through website and online. Then Yangon Region Chief Minister gave remarks.

Next, a member of board of trustees clarified Pagoda Digital Directories installation, and the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture gave closing remarks.
