National Planning Commission: National Planning Commission held meeting (1/2026)

The National Planning Commission Meeting (1/2026) was held at the meeting hall of the Office of the Chairman of the National Defence and Security Council in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on March 6th.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who delivered an opening address.

In his address, the Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Acting President, SSPC Chairman, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, stated that the National Planning Commission Meeting (1/2026) would discuss and approve the draft National Planning Law for the enactment of the National Planning Law for the upcoming 2026-2027 fiscal year.

He noted that since February 2021, the State responsibilities has been taken in accordance with emergency provisions and have been striving through various means to develop the country's economy and social sector.

The Government has been implementing step by step in accordance with the set objectives and future work programs for national development, and have now successfully conducted the elections. At the time of assuming State responsibilities, the country's economy was in decline. Despite numerous difficulties, they prioritized national interests and worked towards the national vision of “prosperous country and food security”.

During the tenure, they primarily promoted the development of MSMEs, which are crucial for national economic development. Currently, compared to before, MSMEs show considerable improvement in product quality and packaging standards. As a new government will soon assume State responsibilities, it is necessary to ensure the completion of projects and programs implemented during this Government’s tenure from 2021 onwards.

Furthermore, projects inherited from previous periods that are still being implemented must be properly documented and handed over. Everyone must strive to complete tasks within designated timeframes etc.

Subsequently, the Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission and the Prime Minister clarified matters. Following this, the Secretary of the National Planning Commission, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Kan Zaw, explained the status of drafting the 2026 National Plan (Draft) and the draft National Planning Law for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

Union Ministers then individually clarified the status of national planning allocations and achievements by fiscal year. In response to the clarifications, the Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Acting President, SSPC Chairman, delivered supplementary remarks and concluded the meeting with his closing address, it’s learnt.
