Moe Yun Gyi Wildlife Sanctuary: 10-year plan to restore the habitats of wild animals

According to the monthly census, there are 189 species of birds including 55 species of migratory birds and more than 30,000 birds enter Moe Yun Gyi Wildlife Sanctuary. The 10-year plan is being drawn to restore the habitats of wild animals.

To maintain the Moe Yun Gyi Resort sustainable, the employees of the Nature and Wildlife Conservation Division under the Forest Department are working to develop as this year’s theme is “It’s time for wetland restoration”.

Thin Thin Yu, Warden, Moe Yun Gyi Wildlife Sanctuary said "We are implementing a 10-year project to restore the habitats for wild animals since 2019 and the species in the wetland areas are recorded in the list. Also, we are conducting the educational activities for the locals to inform them not only about careers but also conservation of the natural environment. We measure the water depth in Moe Yun Gyi resort and cooperate with the Environmental Conservation Department to prevent water pollution. We also conserve duck species and provide pasture land for that species. We recorded about 45 species of migratory birds in the last month.  Also we had a new record of 10 new species included 4 greylag geese enter Moe Yun Gyi wildlife sanctuary in December. "

As natural-based tourism, more than 4,000 visitors pay a visit to 25,600-acre wide Moe Yun Gyi Wildlife Sanctuary, it’s reported.
