Leadership Summit and Innovative Library Award Giving Ceremony took place at Yangon Innovation Centre, Saturday.

Myanmar Book Aid and Preservation Foundation (MBAPF) organized the ceremony of Leadership Summit for Tech Age Girls Myanmar and Beyond Access Innovative Library with the support of Ooredoo Myanmar. Yangon Region Minister of Karen Ethnic Affaires Daw Naw Pan Thinzar Myo attended and gave a speech at the ceremony. The Executive Director of MBAPF also gave an opening speech and explained about the background and success of TAG Myanmar Projects and Beyond Access Myanmar Project.

Executive Director, MBAPF, Dr. Thant Thaw Kaung said “We trained twenty libraries for Beyond Access Innovative Library projects and 100 girls for Tech Age Girls project. In coming year, we will extend our projects in school libraries. And we will raise the coverage and amount of both programs like 40 libraries and 200 girls. About 300,000 people have learned about technology and about 200,000 people have known the usage of internet through this program according to our survey.”

The four outstanding TAG girls were given the outstanding awards of the program and twenty librarians who were running the innovative and modernized libraries received the Beyond Access Innovative Library Awards.

TAG Myanmar program identified the female leaders across Myanmar aged 16 to 20 years and provided them with the essential leadership and job skills through integrated programs in public libraries. Beyond Access Myanmar has provided the community libraries digital devices and internet connectivity.

Award Winner, Outstanding TAG Myanmar, Su Su Thet said “I received the award for my projects which is about the leadership and education for both physical and mental conditions. It is also about that women should know the law and their rights in our community. I’m really glad to receive it and it will be great encouragement for implementing my project.”

Every year, TAG program selected the trainees and trained them for the projects to develop their communities. Currently, there are over 200 libraries, supported by BAI project for developing the reading habits. Both programs are planning to extend as the double in coming year 2020.
