Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi  on Friday, visited forestry trainees from Myanmar Forestry School Batch No. 119 who are undergoing field training at the Forest Research Station No. 5, Moe Swe in Nay Pyi Taw.

The Union Minister said the Forestry School, established in 1898, has long trained core forestry staff for the country. He said Myanmar’s forest coverage stood at 42.15 percent in 2025 and stressed the national goal of increasing it to 50 percent. He highlighted ongoing efforts on forest conservation, plantation expansion, biodiversity protection, greening projects, watershed and mangrove protection, and action against illegal logging.

He urged trainees to study both theory and practical lessons and to serve as reliable and capable public servants. The Union Minister also inspected a forest nursery and a teak plantation and gave necessary instructions.
