






Myanmar attended the 3rd China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation, which took place in Nyingchi, Xizang Autonomous Region, from October 4th to 6th. The Myanmar delegation, led by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, joined Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers from 13 countries, along with officials and representatives from various organizations.
During the forum, on Thursday morning, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi, along with ministers from Sri Lanka, Chile, and Kenya, met with the Chinese Foreign Minister to discuss the development of the Tibet area and cooperation in conserving forests and the natural environment. At the forum's opening ceremony, the Chinese Foreign Minister extended greetings, followed by speeches from the Deputy Prime Minister and other Ministers.
Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi highlighted Myanmar's commitment to conserving forests, ecosystems, and biodiversity, emphasizing that 47% of the country's area falls within the Himalayan region, making it strategically important for global biodiversity. Myanmar has established eight conservation areas in northern Kachin State, covering 2.59% of the country's area, and is actively engaged in collaborative research with international organizations to conserve biodiversity.
The Union Minister pledged to enhance cooperation with Himalayan countries and actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative. The forum focused on topics related to ecological civilization and environmental protection, emphasizing the benefits of cooperation and development.
On Wednesday afternoon, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi engaged with the media in Nyingchi, addressing their queries. He also visited the Nyingchi Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition. In the evening, the Union Minister attended a dinner reception and enjoyed a cultural performance.
