Work Implementation : Provision of aid and flood protection measures

Donations were provided to flood-affected people in Ayeyawady Region by the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, Ayeyawady Region Young Entrepreneurs Association and PEC Private School (Pathein).

The donations were received by the Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw and officials. At a separate ceremony in Hinthada, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Htay Aung and representatives, together with private donors, donated a total of 500 bags of rice for flood victims.

Likewise, a total of 9,500 bottles of cooking oil were also donated by Aung Oo Thar, GD Good Golden Trading and Than Thar companies. Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw and officials later inspected erosion-control and flood protection works in Myanaung Township, including riverbank protection projects, concrete flood barriers and sandbag reinforcement along the Ayeyawady River.

The Chief Minister instructed to closely monitor the embankments, report any problems immediately and strengthen preventive measures against flooding and riverbank erosion as water levels rise.
