The commemoration ceremony for International Anti-Corruption Day was held at Myanmar International Convention Center-1 in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on December 9.

The Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, attended and delivered a speech. The Prime Minister first pressed a button to officially open the event and unveil the signboard for the International Anti-Corruption Day commemoration ceremony.

In his speech, the Prime Minister noted that efforts to prevent and eliminate corruption, in connection with the United Nations Convention against Corruption, have been an ongoing task since December 9, 2003, when the day was officially designated.

Every year, various commemorative events are held globally to raise awareness and take action against corruption. This year’s theme for International Anti-Corruption Day was "Uniting with Youth against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity."

The Prime Minister explained that this theme aligns with Myanmar’s Anti-Corruption Commission’s ongoing efforts since 2022 to educate and engage young people through awareness programs and discussions about anti-corruption. He acknowledged that this is a continuous effort by the Commission.

The Prime Minister highlighted that corruption is a destructive force that damages societies, undermines good governance, and disrupts the social and economic well-being of the nations. Corruption also erodes justice and harms both the state and its people, preventing nations from achieving development goals and destabilizing the rule of law and peace. He noted that this reality is recognized and acknowledged by all.

Following this, the Prime Minister mentioned the government’s slogan "Keep Moving Forward to Achieve Our Goal" and reiterated that Myanmar is working to improve the socio-economic conditions for the benefit of all citizens. He concluded by honoring the 21st International Anti-Corruption Day.

The Prime Minister then presented awards to the winners of poster, video, and essay competitions related to anti-corruption. Afterward, the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission presented a commemorative plaque of the International Anti-Corruption Day to the Prime Minister. Subsequently, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission U Sit Aye explained the Commission's current activities and future plans.

Finally, the Prime Minister and the attendees watched a video clip commemorating International Anti-Corruption Day and viewed photographs documenting anti-corruption activities with great interest.
