Environmental Conservation: Ecosystem restoration and Signing of IMC

2025 ecosystem restoration plantations and village firewood plantations were established within Lower Sin Thay Reserve in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.

On Thursday, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Hsan Oo, accompanied by the deputy ministers, visited the plantations and oversaw the thriving condition. In the afternoon, the Union Minister attended the signing ceremony of Establishment Agreement of the International Mangrove Center-IMC via online.

The ceremony was inaugurated with the opening remarks of Interim Secretariat of the IMC.  The Union Minister called for the concerted efforts of the relevant individuals in systematic administration of mangrove ecosystem and stated Myanmar’s extensive mangrove coverage, which ranks 7th globally and 3rd among Southeast Asian countries. This was followed by signing of the IMC.
