Intergenerational Solidarity: 2022 International Youth Day observed in Nay Pyi Taw

2022 International Youth Day was observed at Wunna Theikdi Stadium (B) in Nay Pyi Taw on August 12th.

Chairman of the Myanmar Youth Affairs Central Committee Union Minister U Min Thein Zan made a speech, saying that about 18% of world population are youths.

In ASEAN region, out of 654 million population, around 34% are young people between 15 to 35 years of age.

Since young people are the future leaders, and work force that can make innovations, peace process, and development endeavours, it is needed to nurture the youths in systematic way.

The United Nations designated August 12 as the International Youth Day in 2009, and this year’ theme is “Intergenerational solidarity”.

During the ceremony, 16 outstanding students of under 35 years of age, and 5 students who won prizes in the essay competition were awarded cash prizes.
