Inspection tour: SAC Vice Chairman took the inspection tour

The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, Vice Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Vice Senior General Soe Win, along with Union Ministers, senior military officers from the office of the Commander-in-Chief, Deputy Ministers, and responsible officials, visited the Bago Region on April 7, examined the situation regarding damages caused by the earthquake, the ongoing recovery efforts, provision of medical care to those injured in the earthquake and provided guidance on necessary actions.

Firstly, the SAC Vice Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister, and members arrived in Bago and visited the historic Nandaw Oo Lawka Marazein Pagoda. They inspected the damages, including the collapse of parts of the pagoda, including the Diamond Bud and Pennant Shaped Vane. During the inspection, the responsible officials explained the condition of the damages to the pagoda, and the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of restoring the pagoda systematically, following the original designs, since it is a historical structure.

Next, the Vice Senior General and members visited the construction site of the Taungoo Central Prison in Kaytumati Township. The officials in charge of the prison construction briefed them on the progress of the construction work. After that, the SAC Vice Chairman visited the site of the prison’s construction, inspecting the ongoing work and giving instructions for necessary improvements.

At Taungoo University of Technology, the Deputy Prime Minister and members were briefed by the Rector regarding the university's structure, the damage sustained by the earthquake, and the designation of hazardous buildings and areas. Following this, the Deputy Prime Minister and members visited the university and inspected the damage to the various buildings, including the lobby, the main building (3-story), the extension building (4-story), the 3-story classroom building, the 1-story practical building, the computer labs, and department-specific classrooms.

The SAC Vice Chairman provided guidance for the necessary repairs. Next, they visited the Taungoo General Hospital, where they spoke with civilians who were receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the earthquake. They expressed their support, provided food and financial aid, distributed cash assistance to the hospital staff and coordinated with the responsible officials to ensure that necessary steps were taken.

Later, they visited the historic Shwe San Taw Stupa, where they donated funds for its restoration. They inspected the damage caused to the stupa’s umbrella and other parts, providing guidance on how to restore these elements appropriately. At the Gandawin Kone Kham Thein , the Deputy Prime  met with the Sayadawgyis,  provided donations and items for the restoration of the stupa and the damaged buildings in the area and outlined plans for the rebuilding efforts.

The Deputy Prime Minister and party then visited Taungoo University, where significant earthquake damage occurred, particularly in the three-story Ramañña ရာမည classroom building and the library, which had been damaged by the quake.

They inspected the damages and also visited the industrial and technical faculty, where the student accommodations and staff housing were also affected. They provided further instructions for necessary actions and distributed cash assistance to the firefighters, teachers, and staff involved in the recovery efforts.

After That, the Deputy Prime Minister and party visited the Swar Chaung Bridge on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, which was severely damaged by the earthquake. They inspected the situation and the ongoing repairs, providing guidance for the necessary steps to restore it.
