Inspection of renovation works: MoRAC UM inspected renovation works

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, U Tin Oo Lwin, accompanied by officials, inspected the progress of repair and renovation work on pagodas, stupas, and religious buildings in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area that were damaged by the Mandalay earthquake in the afternoon on June 26.

First, the Union Minister and officials inspected ten ancient pagodas within the compound of the Sayadawgyi Monastery in Aung Thukha Village, Pubbathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, which were affected by the Mandalay earthquake. When presented with the initial plans for repair and preservation, the Union Minister instructed that the work must adhere to the procedures for pagoda renovation as guided by the Head of State.

He noted that the Presiding Sayadaw and devotees would initiate donations for one pagoda, and emphasized the need to encourage donors for the remaining eight pagodas. Following this, the Union Minister paid respects to the Presiding Sayadaw of the monastery, offered robes, and was briefed on the condition of the damaged ancient pagodas and the plans for their repair.

Subsequently, the Union Minister and officials proceeded to inspect the damaged ancient Bagan pagodas in Nyaung Pin Gyi Su Village Tract, Nay Pyi Taw, and the Bomin Chantha Pagoda within the Mahawizitayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik Monastery in Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw. He provided necessary instructions during these inspections.

After that, the Union Minister and officials visited the Presiding Sayadaw of the Mahawizitayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik Monastery. They paid respects and provided updates on the condition of the Bomin Chantha Pagoda, the repair plan, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture's initial contribution, and efforts to secure additional donors.
