Inspection of Oil Refinery Project : MOEE UM inspected thanlyin oil refinery project phase (1)

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, accompanied by responsible officials, inspected the testing and operation of the Thanlyin Oil Refinery Project Phase (1) according to each step of the plant operation procedure on September 14.

First, the Managing Director of Myanma Petrochemical Enterprise, the refinery manager, and engineers explained the test operations of the refinery. The Union Minister said that at present, there are difficulties in the supply of fuel worldwide, and prices are also rising.

He said that the country is not only strictly managing the systematic use of fuel but also striving to produce it domestically. He also said that since this refinery to be operated is the first oil refinery capable of carrying out control, monitoring, and adjustment from within a Control Room, it is necessary to provide systematic training to employees.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister and party inspected the Thaketa and Alone natural gas-fired power plants, and the Union Minister gave necessary guidance based on the presentations made by the Managing Director of the Electric Power Generation Enterprise.

In the evening, together with Yangon Region Chief Minister and members of region government, the Union Minister met with personnel of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy who are serving duties within Yangon Region and gave necessary guidance. It was reported that the Yangon Region Chief Minister continued by clearly discussing and exchanging views on arrangements being cooperatively carried out to increase and install electricity meters within Yangon Region.
