The Higher Education Sector Quality Improvement Management Training Course (1/2026) was held on March 6th at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Education's Office No. (13), in Nay Pyi Taw.

First, Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein delivered the opening address and guidance for the training course. She stated that among the many applicants for the vacant Pro-Rector positions in universities, selections were made through a multi-stage screening process. The selection was based on age criteria and professorial tenure, involving written examinations and evaluations through presentations divided into two groups.

She emphasized that the attending senior faculty members should understand that with their new positions come numerous responsibilities. Pro-Rectors are primarily responsible for administrative management rather than teaching activities. The role of Pro-Rectors is to support the Rector, and they should provide advice to the Rector transparently. For educational development, all Rectors, Pro-Rectors, and professors must work together in unity to ensure their universities progress.

Subsequently, Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint delivered a lecture on "The Strategic Role of Pro-Rectors in Shaping the Future of Higher Education," discussing the Ministry of Education's Vision and Missions, education laws and policies, universities across 10 ministries, university characteristics, faculty and student numbers, academic leadership of Pro-Rectors, lessons from international education systems, and future university development strategies.

Following this, former Permanent Secretary of the Union Civil Service Board U Khin Maung Win lectured on "Things to Know about the Civil Service Law," and Director General of the Ministry of Education Office Dr. Aung Kyaw discussed "Leadership and Management." The Training Course (1/2026) will conduct lectures and discussions over five days from March 6th to 10th, with 25 newly appointed Pro-Rectors attending, it’s reported.
