











Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with President of the People’s Republic of China Mr Xi Jinping in Tianjin on Saturday. During the meeting, President Xi Jinping expressed thanks for joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and 80th anniversary of the victory in the War against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
He continued that Myanmar is a dialogue partner of SCO, and also involved in the anti-fascist war. He also praised the Pauk Phaw relations between China and Myanmar, and expressed his support for development and stability of Myanmar as well as the political progress.
He stressed that China stands firmly with Myanmar people for building a shared community, abiding by the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence. In his remarks, the Acting President said Myanmar began its participation in the anti-fascist war on March 27, 1945, and that day was designated as the Armed Forces Day, which have reached its 70th anniversary this year.
As for the SCO Summit, the Acting President reiterated its crucial role in promoting international cooperation, and thus, Myanmar has been participating in the SCO meetings since becoming its dialogue partner in May 2023. He also requested China’s support for Myanmar’s bit to become a full member, and expressed his belief that this meeting could further strengthen the already friendly relations between the two countries.
The two leaders later discussed the cooperation in Myanmar’s peace process, promoting trade, implementation of OBOR and CMEC projects, efficient utilization of natural resources, and assistance for Myanmar int he aftermath of Mandalay earthquake.
They also exchanged views on China’s stance on Myanmar in the international arena, promoting bilateral relations and invitation of international observers for the upcoming election. The discussion also focused on the implementation of agreements made during their meeting in Moscow in May 2025, opposing the external interference in the political affairs of Myanmar, strategic cooperation between China and Myanmar, and future plans for ensuring stability in Myanmar.
They also discussed for Myanmar to stand tall among the international and regional arena. China reaffirmed its support for Myanmar’s election and pledged continued the diplomatic assistance. Furthermore, they agreed to strengthening multi-sector cooperation between the two countries.
