Education Sector: 10 days training course on Grade-12 new curriculum

A 10-day training course on the grade-12 new curriculum is being conducted to basic education high school teachers starting from 15th to 24th of May at Bago University in Bago Region. In Myanmar, new curriculums are designed aiming to conduct modern education for the students. Starting from the 2016-2017 Academic Year, KG+12 education program has been implemented.

Rector , Dr. Aye Aye Khaing, Bago University, said " In this training course, university professors who completed the new curriculum central level course will share the new curriculum information with teachers form Basic Education high schools. Training course for new curriculum is opened starting from the 15th of May across the country. "

Starting from the 2023-2024 Academic Year, new curriculums for Grade-9 and 12 will be conducted across the country.

Professor, Dr. Kyi Kyi San, Bago University, said " The new curriculums of Grade-10, 11 and 12 are connected each other and designed adding the things that students should know. Especially to the Biology subject, applied biotechnology, DNA, RNA, genetic engineering and biodiversity were added."

This training is being conducted to 1,541 basic education high school level teachers from Bago and Nyaunglaybin districts.

Tin Moe Khaing, Trainee, said " I have to read a lot of books to teach students. Myanmar subject has been significantly updated and there are a lot of exercises for writing and speaking in the text. We have to prepare for what we teach before we teach the students. "

Bago Region Government provided cash assistance of 5 million Kyats for the course and arranged hostels for the trainees. Also, in Bago Region, training courses on the Grade-12 new curriculum are also being conducted in Pyay and Taungoo townships with 4,657 trainees, it’s reported.
