





A total of 86 Fire Brigade members departed for Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday to conduct rescue operations following the powerful earthquake that struck on March 28. To support their provisions, Yangon Region Disaster Management Committee Chairman and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein provided 19 million kyats of cash assistance.
Director, Yangon Region Fire Services Department, Min San Aye said "Minutes after the earthquake, emergency teams rushed into action. Fire Services Department officials led the response while the Standby emergency Fire Brigade members from township fire services offices inspected different areas in Yangon to check for damage and safety risks."
After a regional emergency Committee meeting, an initial team of 40 fire brigade members was deployed to earthquake-hit Nay Pyi Taw with full rescue equipment. According to further reports, a total of 86 fire brigade members, along with 36 types of rescue equipment were later dispatched to assist in relief efforts.
Director, Yangon Region Fire Services Department, Min San Aye said "We’ve learned a lot from disasters like Cyclone Mocha, and we've also studied earthquakes from a theoretical perspective. With the experience we've gained, I'm confident that our fire brigade, in collaboration with technical teams will tackle the situation and overcome this earthquake challenge successfully."
As earthquakes are unpredictable, full rescue measures will be provided to assist the affected victims. Two fire brigade forces_ a total of 86 members began their journey to Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday, along with 36 types of rescue equipment to assist those in need.
