A coordination meeting of the Disaster Management Center (DMC) was held on April 4, regarding the earthquake disaster in Myanmar.

In the meeting, Deputy Chairperson (1) of the National Disaster Management Committee, Union Minister of Home Affairs, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naing led the meeting where the attendees discussed the importance of speedy inspecting and rebuilding of office buildings, hospitals, and staff housing under the leadership of the respective reconstruction committees while ensuring the systematic distribution of international aid and donations.

The attendees also presented their ongoing activities for rescue and relief measures. Following the initial earthquake, 78 aftershocks have been struck with slight and moderate levels. With the cooperation of international rescue teams, 653 survivors have been rescued, and 640 bodies have been recovered.

The rescue operations have reached Phase 5, and it is now crucial to complete all the rescue and recovery efforts. Due to difficulties in providing shelter and services to the staff and people, efforts must be made to quickly relocate people to temporary shelters before the rainy season. Buildings will be assessed based on the degree of damage and categorized into three levels: red, yellow, and blue. Temporary shelters, such as Assembled Board Houses (ABH), will be used, and repairs to infrastructure like roads and bridges will be accelerated.
