




Union Minister for Industry, Dr. Charlie Than, attended and delivered a speech at the Coordination Meeting (3/2025) of the Myanmar Cement Manufacturers Association, held at Meeting Room of office No. 30 of the Ministry of Industry in Nay Pyi Taw.
Before the coordination meeting, Director General from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement explained that, in response to the Mandalay earthquake, which caused damage across 54 townships in eight regions and states, including the Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw, the National Natural Disaster Management Committee will allocate 5.344 million bags of cement from its emergency fund for the reconstruction of damaged homes.
The Chairman of the Myanmar Cement Manufacturers Association discussed plans to assign local cement factories to help minimize transportation costs for consumers by producing and distributing cement locally. He also mentioned preparations to ensure that cement can be produced and supplied as needed from factories in the eight affected regions and states.
Following that, the meeting continued with remarks from the Union Minister, who acknowledged that some cement factories were affected by the Mandalay earthquake, and commended their efforts to quickly repair damages and resume production to meet public needs. He expressed appreciation to the manufacturers for their swift response and encouraged them to continue supporting the reconstruction efforts.
The Chairman of the Association, ministry representatives, officials from the Department of Industrial Collaboration, the Deputy Director General, and other attendees held further discussions. They reviewed and addressed the challenges presented by the factories, coordinated solutions, and concluded the meeting with closing remarks by the Union Minister.
