A coordination meeting for the publication of the Comprehensive History of Myanmar book was held on 21 August at the Lokananda Assembly Hall of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin delivered the opening remarks. The Union Minister explained that, in line with the guidance of the Head of State, an editorial team and supporting committees had been formed for the publication of the Comprehensive History of Myanmar. He stated that from the emergence of hominids to the Pyu era, coordination meetings had been held 13 times between 2022 and 2025 to discuss historical evidence and records.
Based on these discussions, revisions and supplements were made, and draft versions of the History of Myanmar had already been prepared. To ensure the accuracy of historical facts and avoid misinterpretations, an editorial team consisting of scholars from the Myanmar Historical Commission and research experts was formed and tasked with editing the drafts.
In collaboration with this team, necessary information, documentary photographs, maps, and related materials were collected, compiled, and prepared for publication. This process was carried out by the Department of Archaeology and National Museum, under the leadership of the Deputy Director-General (Museums), with the support of a working group at the Yangon branch office from 20 June to 20 July 2025.
Afterward, the Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture explained that the draft Comprehensive History of Myanmar books had been compiled and edited based on suggestions and guidance from senior scholars during earlier discussions.
She added that the present coordination meeting was convened to further discuss and present additional necessary information, organized by relevant sectors, so that the books could be supplemented and finalized. Following this, Myanmar historians and experts discussed their recommendations and the information that should be further incorporated. Finally, the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture reviewed the discussions and delivered concluding remarks.
