Construction of Bridges: MCRD Union Minister inspects work progress

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, together with officials, visited the construction site of PaungLaung-Kyoepintha Sittoung River Crossing Bridge in Lewe Township on 12th August.

The bridge is 600 ft long and 20 ft wide and will benefit over 18,000 people from more than 3,700 households in 17 village. It is of reinforced concrete type and can withstand 36 tons of loads. At present, 35% of construction works have been completed.

The Union Minister instructed to meet the set standard, and complete the targeted time. They later met with the local villagers from PaungLaung and Kyoepintha Villages, and discussed that the government is implementing for boosting production in agriculture and livestock breeding sectors in order to achieve socio-economic development and income generation.

Training on producing value-added products and vocation education are also conducted at the respective regions and states. The Ministry is also providing assistance for ensuring smooth transportation of rural people, and also cooperating with the concerned ministries and private entrepreneurs to fulfill the needs of local farmers.

The Union Minister and party later inspected the construction site of PaungLaung-KyoepinthaSittoung River Crossing Bridge. They then proceeded to YonePin-AyeChanTha Sittoung River Crossing Bridge, and heard reports on the work progress.

The bridge will benefit over 14,000 people from more than 3,100 households in 12 villages. It is 840 ft long and 22 ft wide, and 19% of construction works have completed so far. The Union Minister stressed that the construction projects are important for development of a region.

The Ministry is prioritizing for socio-economic development of local people. Increased incomes and job creations. He called for cooperative efforts of the departments for timely completion of the works, meeting the set standard.

The Union Minister later met with the local villagers and discussed for regional development matters. They then inspected the construction progress of the bridge.
