






In honor of the 76th Anniversary of Tatmadaw (Navy) Day, a ceremony to commission naval vessels took place at No.3 Naval Wharf in Yangon on Sunday, accompanied by the handing over of vessels to the Myanmar Coast Guard.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win. Chief of Staff (Navy) Vice-Admiral Zwe Win Myint explained the salient points of the naval vessels.
The event proceeded with the handing over of documents of the naval vessels to the commander of the Naval Fleet and the Director-General of Myanmar Coast Guard. Vice Senior General Soe Win later delivered a speech on behalf of the Chairman of the State Administration Council, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
In his address, the Vice Senior General highlighted the phased development of the Tatmadaw (Navy) to its current state as a Three-Dimensional Combat Ready Navy. He outlined future aspirations, aiming to transform into an Adjacent Force Projection Navy/Regional Navy as a second phase and eventually achieving the status of a Blue Water Navy Ambition in the third phase.
Emphasizing the importance of capable naval vessels with high combat power and continuous training for naval personnel, the Vice Senior General acknowledged the Tatmadaw (Navy)'s contribution to ongoing combats for state stability and the eradication of insurgents.
The Commander-in-Chief (Navy) then presented scale models of the vessels to the Vice Senior General, who, in turn, presented flower baskets and honorary cash to those involved in building the naval vessels.
The ceremony continued with the declaration of the commissioning of the naval vessels, raising of the State Flag, Navy Flag, and commissioning flag, as well as the ringing of the bell eight times and other commissioning procedures.
Then, the Vice Senior General visited the Navy vessels, including two 33-meter coast guard vessels, two 27-meter fast patrol boats, and one water carrier vessel, as well as the vessels which were handed over to the Myanmar Coast Guard.
