A meeting to clarify and present matters related to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) activities for the exploration drilling operations of Offshore Block (M-15), which is scheduled to be drilled by Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise and CFG Energy Pte.
Ltd in late 2026, was held Monday morning at the meeting hall of the Region Government Office in Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region. At the meeting, Region Chief Minister U Zaw Naing Oo, stated that oil and natural gas exploration not only enhances the energy sector but also contributes to increasing national revenue and promoting the development of the industrial and socio-economic sectors.
He noted that Offshore Block (M-15), located within the maritime territory of Tanintharyi Region, is situated in the offshore waters of the Dawei River and is connected to the Ye Ta Khun project blocks M-12, M-13, and M-14. He mentioned that detailed surveys had been conducted in areas with potential oil and natural gas deposits, and the presence of natural gas had been confirmed.
He also stated that exploration drilling operations for Offshore Block (M-15) are planned for late 2026, and that the Region Government would coordinate and facilitate the necessary requirements for the drilling operations. Following this, U Ye Naing, General Manager (Offshore) from Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise, explained the purpose of the meeting and provided an overview of the project.
Then, Mr. Songning Shen, Chairman of CFG Energy Pte. Ltd, presented further details about the project. Subsequently, responsible officials from the companies presented on the drilling plans for Offshore Block (M-15), the project-related environmental impact assessments, community relations and engagement activities undertaken, and the next steps to be carried out. Attendees then raised supplementary questions and discussed necessary matters, and the Region Chief Minister provided coordination and facilitation on the issues raised, it’s reported.
