The Union Election Commission conducted clarification and demonstration of test voting in regard with Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) at the Minsitry of Defence on Thursday.
Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San, Deputy MinisterMaj-Gen Aung Lin Tun and officers and staffs of the Ministry attended the event. Coneceringing Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine, members of the UEC and officials clarified and demonstrated test voting.
The Union Election Commission developed Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVMs) by the assistance of local technicians in accordance with the situations of Myanmar for the upcoming elections. The electronic voting machine can reduce the costs of printing ballots and materials for polling booths, can know the voting results within a short period, prevent fraud voting and can be transparency in voting.
The UEC is conducting clarification and demonstration of MEVM as the voter awareness program at the Ministries and organizations. To date, a total of 6,474 officers and staffs of the Ministries and organizations have already conducted test votings practically.
It was found that there were no errors on the machine during the operation and the test votes were conducted easily in a short period.If there are suggestions through the experiences on test voting of officers and staffs of ministries/organizations, the UEC will upgrade it to a better system by reviewing the recommendations.160 officers and staffs of the Ministry of Defence attended the event and cast votes practically with voting machine.
