Meeting with Chairman of State Duma : President met with Chairman of State Duma, Russian Federation

President U Min Aung Hlaing of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, who is currently on an official goodwill visit to Moscow, Russian Federation, met with Chairman of the State Duma Mr. Vyacheslav Volodin at the meeting hall of the State Duma building at 10 a.m. local time Tuesday morning.

First, the Myanmar high-level delegation led by the President arrived at the State Duma building, where the Chairman of the State Duma welcomed and greeted the delegation.

A commemorative photo was then taken. During the meeting that followed, the President and the Chairman of the State Duma held cordial discussions on enhancing friendship, mutual understanding, trust and cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, which serve as the legislative pillars of their respective countries.

They also discussed the progress and improvement of diplomatic relations between the two countries; opportunities for closer cooperation between the two parliaments following the emergence of a government and parliament elected by the people in Myanmar; and arrangements for mutual study visits between the parliaments to exchange experiences.

They further exchanged views on the two countries' mutual support and solidarity on regional and international issues. Discussions also covered Myanmar's successful holding of a fair and dignified election and the efforts to implement the people's will through parliaments comprising people's representatives and a democratically elected government.

In this regard, the President explained that the government would continue to accelerate efforts to safeguard national interests, uphold the rule of law, and reform the administrative machinery. The two sides also cordially discussed Myanmar's cooperation with friendly countries in promoting regional security, as well as the policies and measures being undertaken to achieve peace within the country, it is reported.
