






A capacity-building training for departmental personnel on Prevention and Response to Conflict-related Sexual Violence was opened in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win attended the opening ceremony, in his capacity as the Chairman of the National Committee on Prevention and Response to Conflict-related Sexual Violence.
In his address, the Union Minister said the training's objective is to equip the staff with the necessary skills to support the implementation of the National Action Plan on Prevention and Response to Conflict-related Sexual Violence.
The training program covers 11 subjects, and officials from various government ministries and organizations, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement, and the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, will share their knowledge and experiences during the training period.
Myanmar has developed the National Action Plan on Prevention and Response to Conflict-related Sexual Violence, based on the three key points outlined in United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2106, which focuses on the prevention of conflict-related sexual violence and the six primary sectors as mentioned in the Joint Statement.
This National Action Plan is being implemented within a defined timeframe, covering prevention, protection, investigation, and responses to sexual violence in conflicts, targeting women, men, and children.
