











The Agriculture and Livestock Development Commission held its meeting (4/2025) at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation in Nay Pyi Taw on August 25.
The Commission Chairman and Prime Minister U Nyo Saw delivered an opening speech at the meeting. The meeting was attended by Union ministers, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, deputy ministers, the UMFCCI Chairman, and other officials.
The chief ministers of regions and states also joined the meeting via video conference. In his opening speech, Prime Minister U Nyo Saw noted that this was the first meeting of the commission since its re-establishment. He stressed the importance of the agriculture and livestock sector, highlighting its priority status for the nation.
He referred to one of the four goals of the National Defense and Security Council: "To continuously develop the agricultural sector, which is the main and fundamental cornerstone of national economic development, and to continuously improve the socio-economic life of the people through the development of the agro-based industry."
He stated that the country's decision to prioritize agriculture and livestock is for the continuous development of the national economy. Therefore, the commission must focus its efforts on developing the agriculture and livestock sectors to increase productivity.
The Prime Minister also urged the attendees to improve the agriculture sector by advancing agricultural science, maintaining greenery and preserving the environment, developing the livestock sector, and expanding freshwater and saltwater fish and shrimp farming etc.
The commission's secretary then briefed the meeting on the decisions of the third ALDC meeting. The commission members including Union ministers, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, chief ministers of regions and states, deputy ministers, and the UMFCCI Chairman discussed the progress of the decisions and presented their plans for future cooperation among ministries, organizations, and business owners to comprehensively develop the agriculture and livestock sectors. Then, the Prime Minister coordinated the discussions and delivered a closing speech, it’s learnt.
