







The State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee's Central Administrative Body for the State Pariyatti Sasana Universities Meeting was held at State Pariyatti Sasana University (Yangon) on the Siri Mangala Kaba Aye Hill in Mayangone Township, Yangon, on August 27.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairmen of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, the Rectors and Pro-Rectors (Academic/Administrative), and Registrars of the State Pariyatti Sasana Universities (Yangon and Mandalay).
Also in attendance were Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, members of the Central Administrative Committee for the universities, and external experts. First, the Vice Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee and Chairman of the Central Administrative Body for the State Pariyatti Sasana Universities delivered an opening address.
Following this, Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin supplicated religious matters. He noted the progress and achievements of the State Pariyatti Sasana Universities over the past 40 years since their establishment. He stated that today's meeting would focus on discussing, coordinating, and deciding on academic and administrative matters related to the two universities.
He also reported that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture is working under the guidance of the Sayadawgyis of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee to publish 51 volumes of the Atthakatha and 26 volumes of the Tika, using a clear and distinct computer-based typesetting system that preserves the original page and character counts of the Sixth Buddhist Synod's edition.
He added that the translation of the Tipitaka comprising 53 volumes in total into English began in 1980, with 28 volumes and 26 books already published. An additional 9 volumes (14 books) have been revised and proof copies have been printed.
After that, the Director-General of the Department for the Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana, who serves as the Secretary of the University's Central Administrative |Body, reported on the implementation of the decisions from the committee's (1/2025) meeting and presented a report from the Central Education Committee for Universities (2/2025) meeting.
Subsequently, the attending Sayadaws and scholars discussed topics related to the Central Administrative Body's (2/2025) meeting. They made and approved 11 decisions and recorded one point. The presiding Sayadaw then delivered a concluding address, and the Union Minister presented offerings to the Sangha.
