




A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win attended opening ceremony of the 7th Sino-ASEAN Traditional Medicine and Pharmaceutical Development Cooperation Summit that was held in Fanchenggang , Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China on Thursday.
At the summit, Chief Commissioner of National Medical Products Administration of China Mr. Li Li and Vice Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Mr. Maio Qingwang extended greetings.
At the summit, Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win said that this is the 7th Summit held every two years with the title “Conveying the voice of traditional Chinese Medicine to the World, ushering in a new future for traditional medicines”.
Traditional medicine plays an important role in solving health problems faced by the public. He stressed the need for cooperation between China and ASEAN member states to strengthen traditional medicine and provide better health care to the people, safety of traditional medicine products, to prioritize safety, efficiency and quality of traditional medicine products and improve policy and regulatory systems in various fields.
The meeting would focus on discussion quality guarantee, assess, promoting capacity and implementation of strategies and the policies and principles on traditional medicines can be exchanged among the countries. The Union Minister then expressed his belief that the summit will support development of safety and better traditional medicine in the regional countries.
Heads of Department of Traditional Medicine of China and ASEAN countries discussed quality and safety of traditional medicines, policies and work processes of respective countries and the success of Covid-19 treatment with traditional medicines by formulating scientifically.
In the afternoon session, opening ceremony of China-ASEAN Drug Control Officers Training Course, seminar on traditional medicine and pharmaceutical development policy and China-ASEAN Pharmaceutical Production and Exporting seminar were held and high ranking officials of the Department of Traditional Medicine and the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health joined the seminars.
